Dear Higgi and family,
Our sincere condolences to you all.
It was a great shock to receive the sad news of Clive's passing.
I had known him for a good many years; since his time in the army.
We were of different generations and, as so often is the case, we lost touch over the years.
So it was a great pleasure to get to know him, and you, Higgi, during your visits to the Allgaeu. We were always touched by the bravery that you both showed in the face of such adversity.
Clive's passing has attracted comments from many former comrades and friends on social media. The most commonly used terms are: " a lovely man", "a real gentleman" and "very professional".
I, personally, will remember him as a quiet but determined man. A man who could always be relied upon to come up with "the goods", often in very challenging situations.
The motto of our regiment is "Death or Glory". The former has taken Clive, but he will always be remembered by those that served with him.
Rest in Peace, old friend.
